British? Indian? Aussie?

British India

British India, a four piece indie rock band from Melbourne is definitely Australia’s hottest new band at present. The band consists of Declan Melia (Vocals), Nic Wilson (Guitar), Will Drummond (Bass) and Matt O'Gorman (Drums).

British India sounds just like one of the bunch of English outfits that emerge in flock of late, some even dub them as Australia’s version of Arctic Monkeys. Of course it’s a formula we’ve heard countless times before, but British India’s wonderful energy and admirable talent makes the band stands out from the rest.

The band’s debut album ‘
Guillotine’ is already out in Australia. With a little help by Triple j, the band’s latest single ‘Tie Up My Hands’ has garnered a lot of attention and is heard on the radio all the time. The song is a perfect indie rock single with lively chorus and playful melody…. 'Tie 'em up, tie 'em up!'

If I Ever Feel Better

So the occasional writer has left for Perth. With Kaiser Chiefs and Klaxons on the go, and probably Silverchair too, it seems like she will be having the time of her life there. The jealousy is killing me, and the drought for good live music in local scene has made it worse. Oh, the list of pop stars doesn't count.

Oh well, maybe I should just have to look at the bright side. It brings new elements to the blog as gig reviews and perhaps the latest in Aussie music scene will be covered. So watch out for this space in the future.

Art Brut - Jealous Guy

Jens Lekman

Speaking of gigs, the guy who delivered one of the best live performance in my rather short acts-that-I-have-seen-live list is back. As the title suggests, Jens Lekman's latest single, "Friday Night at the Drive-In Bingo" sounds nothing but joyful. Look out for his sophomore album, which is set to drop in September.

The Occasional Writer Strikes!

Klaxons

I have been a regular contributor and helping Yoong Bing to write few pieces for this blog, but I never have my name mentioned here and take any credit. This time I came out off the shadow because I am so thrilled that I need to share this exciting news. Getting out off the good-live-music-deprived nation is great, well Perth is not exactly the perfect place, at least I get to see Kaiser Chiefs and Klaxons instead of Gwen Stefani or not-yet-confirmed My Chemical Romance.

Klaxons' latest single 'It's Not Over Yet' was already a cover of a song by rave band Grace, it includes another cover as B-side which is "The Night", a song by Frankie Valli and The Four Seasons.

Fluorescent Adolescent

Fluorescent Adolescent

'Fluorescent Adolescent', the second single from Arctic Monkeys' Favourite Worst Nightmare is to be released on 9th July. The Bakery and Plastic Tramp were two tracks that couldn't make it onto the album, now they are being released as B-sides on 'Fluorescent Adolescent' single. Also we can hear Alex Turner croons delicately through the third B-side, Too Much Too Ask, possibly the band's second ballad after their first ever Only Ones Who Know.
